Leading distributor of fenestration hardware Mila has renewed its membership with the police Secured by Design (SBD) initiative.
Mila has been at the heart of the UK hardware industry since 1980, supplying the trade, merchant and retail sectors with a wide range of third party window and door hardware from market-leading brands such as Yale and Siegenia and is also the exclusive UK distributor of AXOR TBT products. More than half of Mila’s sales though are own brand products, designed and developed in house with an emphasis on quality, innovation and value.
Mila supplied products are used across the PVCu, aluminium and timber markets and the company’s aim is always to set the benchmark in the industry for service, delivery and overall customer experience.
Mila has over 8000 SKUs in stock at its purpose built 600m² Northamptonshire warehouse, and reports weekly OTIF figures which are typically in excess of 95%.
Mila has been a Secured by Design licensee for 30 years and has more than 40 SBD approved products in their portfolio. Find out more about Mila and their extensive range of Secured by Design accredited products here.
Hazel Goss, Secured by Design, said: “It has been a pleasure to renew Secured by Design membership with Mila, who have been long standing members with us since 2003. They offer a superb selection of door and window hardware for both residential and commercial use. I’m looking forward to working with them for many more years to come.”
Strafford Cooke, Mila’s Technical Director, added: “Secured By Design accreditation remains a key element in our offering to customers. In the retail market in particular, it’s an instantly recognisable brand and logo, trusted by homeowners and respected by developers. As a result, it’s something that our trade customers really value because it helps them win business.”
Secured by Design
Police Crime Prevention Initiatives (Police CPI), which is part of the UK Police Service, delivers a wide range of crime prevention and demand reduction initiatives across the UK. Secured by Design is the most well-known of the extensive Police CPI portfolio, with all initiatives designed to keep the public safe from crime and to reduce the demand on the police service.
Secured by Design (SBD), which celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2024, operates an accreditation scheme on behalf of the UK Police Service for products or services that have met recognised security standards. These products or services – which must be capable of deterring or preventing crime – are known as being of a ‘Police Preferred Specification’.
There are many hundreds of companies who produce over 7000 individual attack resistant crime prevention products in more than 30 different categories that have met the exacting Police Preferred Specification. This includes doors, windows, external storage, bicycle and motorcycle security, locks and hardware, asset marking, alarms, CCTV, safes, IoT connected products, perimeter security products and many others.
SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK.
